Third Federal

Postby Paula » Thu May 17, 2012 3:06 pm

Going through my papers I found a savings account that I had opened up at Third Federal in 2003. The last time I checked the balance was 7/6/06, and the balance was $3120. I called to find out the new balance, and was told $3055. I was told it was an "activity fee." So it cost me $65.00 to put money in their bank.

be thankful it wasn't at one of the bigger banks, you'd have a lot less after letting your money sit there for 6 years

also be thankful you have three grand you apparently forgot and didn't need

Most savings accounts don't have fees AFAIK. Fees are usually attached to checking accounts and even then only if you are below a certain minimum. For example, my TD-Bank checking account has no fees as long as I'm above 2.5k and that's a premier account that comes with ATM rebates and a tiny interest rate, if it were a normal account I think the threshold is $500.
