Saturday Morning Basketball

Postby TroyCrichton » Sat Oct 20, 2012 12:38 pm

Hi all:

Is anyone interested in playing basketball on Saturday mornings maybe around 11 am? It would great to get a 3 on 3 or something more going.

I am down! Where though?

I've been thinking about approaching the NL Rec Center about starting a league.
People play there and none of them are from the neighborhood.

Great, I usually go down to 10th and Bainbridge to play pick up games, but I'd like to get something going in walking distance. I know there were courts over at that school around 6th and brown, but i think they closed. Aren't there Courts further west by "Liberties West"? Also the community center is a good idea, although I think they only have a half court. Suggestions?

Yea, id rather go somewhere within walking distance.
The rec center has a full court inside and the park next door to the rec center is also a full court (3rd and Fairmount).

Hey Guys,

If you get a chance, check out philadelphia sports network. They run basketball leagues Sunday afternoon, Monday & Tuesday Nights at The Sporting Club @ The Bellevue & Thursday Nights at Old Pine Rec Center. They also play pick up games at St. Paul Community Center on Weds. evenings. I've played in the leagues before and they are well run, not too expensive, and very competitive.

PSSC has a Wednesday basketball league at WDP Charter school at Sixth and Poplar.

Yes I've played PSSC Leagues before. Same price as PSN but then you have to pay the officials cash at the game (PSN ref fees are included in registration fees). Plus, PSSC refs really had no clue about bball where as PSN uses college & HS refs.

I do agree, 6th a Poplar is closer

im going to get in contact with our neighborhood rec center because I think it's ridiculous to pay so much $ to play b-ball, especially when we have a full court gym "for the neighborhood" right on 3rd & fairmount.

Thanks Girard 1,

I agree with contacting the rec center. Why pay when we can organize it ourselves? Let's meet this Saturday, October 27th at 11:00 am at the outdoor court at 3rd & Fairmount. At best, we get a good run in, at worst we meet some new people. I'll be there and hope to see you guys there as well.
