Ok, so I do believe the building has to go in its current state but there is one thing I cant tolerate...

That is the loss of my favorite neighborhood tree. The tree that is full grown of the roof of the Ortiebs building. We need to start a neighborhood appeal to have that tree replanted on the site or in the park!

Save the tree!!!!!

It would be cool if it became a high-tech workshop hub instead of more apartments.

The hiddencity article mentions something about asbestos being in another Ortlieb's building on 3rd street upon demolition, and Bart getting fined for it. Is there any way to know if the building being demolished soon contains asbestos, and if it is being removed prior to demolition? This building is right in the middle of Northern Liberties- alot of residents could be affected by this.

I'm pretty sure the buidling in the article was the one just south of the current Ortlieb's bar. It's currently a vacant lot.

Right, but it was part of the same complex as the building being demolished, and it had asbestos. Can't help but jump to the conclusion that the building being demolished might also contain asbestos.
