Col. John McKee - in today's Inquirer

Philadelphia Inquirer features a story of Col. John McKee. At the time of his death in 1902, he was the richest African-American man in the United States.

The article caught my eye because our son-in-law, Ken Youmans (Cindi's husband) wrote and presented a play on Col. McKee a few years back. He had such an interesting history. At the time of his death, his holdings were an empire both in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Even today he is responsible for over 1,000 scholarships. And now, finally, his grave is marked with a tombstone showing date of birth in 1821, and death in 1902. He was quite a man - unappreciated until after his death. If you read the story I think you will really like the guy!
