Wednesday's Power Outage

Postby girard1 » Wed Sep 05, 2012 11:10 am

Half of NoLibs has no power, including me.

According to a friend, seems a patio umbrella flew off and hit some power lines.

Anyone else hear anything?

Yes, it was a patio umbrella that someone apparently left on a roof deck that hit the wires. Power is back on now.

Power has been fully restored as of around 11am. It was restored for 3rd street maybe a half-hour prior to that.

As far as I know it was all of brown street from Front to 3rd and some or all of 3rd street from Fairmount to Brown. Might have been more than that but that's all I confirmed.

NL is on two different grids (or whatever the proper term is). I don't know exactly how far east and west each section goes, but the north-south dividing line is around Saint John Neumann Way (i.e. above Wildey and below George).

Best,
Matt

Based on the clocks in our house not blinking when I got home, we did not lose power on 6th St south of Poplar.

I don't think it's that simple. For example during this power outage the street light at 2nd and brown was out but the light at 2nd and poplar was still on.
