>> ANOTHER business Leaves Liberties Walk??

Postby kdwhite » Mon Jan 30, 2012 11:20 pm

Serenity Bookstore & Giftshop was soon to open on Feb 10th.

As residents of Northern Liberties, we will continue to support the shops there, we simply will not own a business there.

BOOKS N BEANS is a super cheeseball name. Anyways, there's already going to be a fake bookstore on Girard called that (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3465&hilit=books+beans).

The owner of "Books and Beans" is super weird, and should be happy someone gave her a chance to open. Apparently this is her 2nd or 3rd time trying to open this concept and it never seems to open due to issues with all 3 landlords. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm just something to think about.

What was your dispute about? You agreed to terms and then backed out, over what? If you are willing to say they are terrible, surely you wouldn't mind sharing why they are terrible.

I still happily hold a lease at 155 Girard, I assumed the walk would be a BETTER location and more foot traffic, thus I approached management to secure a lease and did that successfully.

Follow this link to read complaints voiced by other TENANTS and see I dont stand ALONE....see the facts for yourself.

seems like very few complaints, mostly voiced by one person over 6 months ago... don't see anything related to commercial space issues, maybe I'm missing something.

what were the specific issues you had?

Wait so you have a lease for books and beans at 155 Girard, and you were going to open up another books and beans just 300 ft away? Doesnt sound so smart? There is definatly more to this..............

Can we call your ability to type in proper English "weird"?

Original poster is obviously just badmouthing the Walk (or the Walk's management, whatever) with nothing really to back up why she was not satisfied with her dealings with them. Pointless, imo.

As stated, the link she keeps referencing says nothing about commercial space issues, not to mention only two of those reviews are from the past year. The rest are from 2007 or before. Just saying, its possible that in that time they cleaned up their act...?

I wouldn't know personally as I have neither rented a residential or commercial space on the Walk - however, I do know a few residential tenants who have had nothing but bad experiences ever since those places opened. From complaints of mice to seriously shoddy construction to unstable rent rates, does not seem like a place I'd want to live.

And does it surprise anyone that ANOTHER business has left the walk? Big shocker there.

I'm still thinking "elaborate PizzaXpress type of joke". As I said before - I'd welcome a book store to the neighborhood, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I think something might have been lost in translation.

This is the quote: "We initally planned to open at 155 Girard as Books N Beans, we assumed Liberties Walk was a better location, we assumed wrong."

From that I gather they had the 155 Girard space lined up, then thought that liberties walk was a better location, then got into a fight with management at LB, and finally decided to stick with the original location at 155 Girard.

Saw them setting up the store on Sunday on Liberties Walk. Admit the whole thing sounds weird, but they were obviously close to being on the Walk considering they had books and whatnot in the store on Sunday.
